Our team had plenty to celebrate at the 2018 Pinnacle Awards. Designer Catina Roscoe brought home the prestigious award in the Casual Dining category for our Local Harvest Round Dining Table.
At the gala event, it was exciting to hear from designers across our industry and around the world, including Carston Astheimer, founder and creative director of Astheimer Design, who works with world-class brands like Land Rover. During his keynote, he talked about how social shifts create changes that drive trends—sharing his views on how designers must perceive changes in the needs of consumers in order to stay one step ahead. We think Catina did just that in tapping into the popularity of the farm-to-table movement.
The global design guru also talked about a tangible trend toward environmental consciousness. That’s music to our ears because, at Borkholder, we’ve been committed to preserving a sense of community and careful stewardship of our woodlands all along. Our mission is to build sustainable, environmentally friendly, solid wood products with an eye for finishes that enhance the natural beauty of the wood. Not because we’re interested in winning awards, but because it’s simply the right thing to do.
That said, we clapped loud and hard when Catina took the stage. Her enthusiasm for natural resources like solid wood and for preserving the traditions of furniture making in America has made for a beautiful partnership.
